Definitions:

The following is a basic list of common words used in the pallet industry.

Grocery or GMA pallets:

Our recycled grocery pallets, i.e., 48" x 40" 4 way entry pallets, are repaired, graded and sold based on each pallet's condition. A brief description of each grade follows:

Premium A grade - these pallets are our highest grade recycled pallet and are used in large wholesale club operations. These pallets do not have any plated stringer repairs, painted or colored stringers and all of these pallets have 6" leading edge boards. No softwood lumber is used in these pallets.

#1 grade - these pallets are similar to Premium A grades, however they may include some plated stringer repairs, colored (painted) stringers. and may have 4" and/or 6" leading edge boards.

#2 grade - these pallets contain 1 or more double or sister stringer repairs per pallet. These pallets are our most economical grocery or GMA pallet.

Length - Refers to the stringer or stringer board (in block pallets) length.

Width - Refers to the width of the board.

Overall Height - The vertical distance measured from the floor to the top side of the top deck.

Lead Board - First deck board of the pallet.

Top Deck Board - Assembly of deck boards comprising the upper surface of the pallet.

Bottom Deck Board  - Assembly of deck boards comprising the lower surface of the pallet.

Deck Spacing - Distance between adjacent deck boards.

Stringer - Continuous, longitudinal, solid or notched beam-component of the pallet used to support deck components, often identified by location as the outside or center stringer and sometimes called a runner.

Block - Rectangular, square or cylindrical deck spacer, often identified by its location within the pallet as corner block, edge block, inner block, center or middle blocks.

Notch - Cutout in lower portion of the stringer to allow entry for the fork, (partial four-way entry).
